  • Oriole to raise combined £2m through retail offer, conditional placing

    Aim-listed Oriole Resources has announced a dual fundraising effort, combining a retail offer by means of the Winterflood Retail Access Platform (WRAP) and a conditional placing, with the WRAP retail offer expected to raise up to £200 000 and the placing having conditionally raised about £1.8-million before expenses. Both initiatives are designed to support the company’s ongoing exploration and development projects in Cameroon and are contingent on the admission of new ordinary shares to trading on the Aim.

  • Dialogues proffers suggestions to bolster Africa’s critical minerals positioning  

    Leading up to the G20 Summit being hosted in South Africa this month, the UN Development Programme, the African Union and the Open Society Foundations hosted a high-level, multi-stakeholder dialogue 'Turning Mineral Wealth into Negotiating Power: Africa and Critical Minerals Supply Chains', in Sandton on November 13.   • Eastplats reports narrower losses

    TSX- and JSE-listed Eastern Platinum’s (Eastplats’) revenue for the third quarter ended September 30 increased to $13.7-million, representing a $2.7-million, or 24.5%, increase year-on-year. Revenue for the year-to-date, however, decreased to $39.3-million, representing a $6.2-million, or 13.6%, decrease year-on-year.

    Coal miner Liberty Coal has announced that it is implementing its long-standing plans of appointing Liberty Mine Services (LMS), a member of the Liberty group of companies, as its principal mining contractor under its own independent management, to further develop and execute the planned mining operations at Optimum Colliery, in Mpumalanga. This marks the next phase of its long-term strategy to restore and revitalise the Optimum Colliery.

  • Zikalala flags failure of contractor-development pipeline

    Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala has raised concern about ongoing systemic problems in South Africa’s contractor-development programmes, warning that fewer than 36% of contractors enrolled in government support initiatives are progressing beyond the initial stage. Speaking at the 2025 National Construction Summit, in Ekurhuleni, on November 14, he said evidence from recent monitoring reports showed that delays, fragmented implementation and funding gaps continued to undermine emerging contractors despite extensive training efforts.

  • Digital Parks Africa, Master Power Technologies get European energy efficiency certifications

    Data centre services company Digital Parks Africa (DPA) has been certified as a participant in the European Commission’s Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres, while industrial power company Master Power Technologies has been certified as an endorser of the same code of conduct. The certification is managed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and recognises data centres that voluntarily commit to implementing best practices in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.

  • Nersa notes Sasol Gas's max price adjustment down by 6% for Jan to March 2026

    JSE-listed chemicals and energy company Sasol’s gas subsidiary Sasol Gas had submitted information to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) in support of its maximum gas price adjustment for the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, covering the period from January 1 to March 31, 2026. As a result of the adjustment, Sasol Gas’s maximum gas price for the third quarter is R85.10/GJ a year, which represents a 6% decrease from the previous quarter’s maximum gas price level of R90.57/GJ, Nersa says.

    Geotechnical engineering firm Mukona Group has acquired South African geotechnical investigations, piling and lateral support company Mega Pile to create a comprehensive geotechnical services provider for Southern Africa. The combined group can deliver a range of turnkey solutions, from site investigations, drilling and lab testing to design, piling, lateral support and ground improvement techniques.

  • Property ownership certainty key to South Africa’s real estate growth, Growthpoint CEO warns

    Growthpoint Properties CEO Estienne de Klerk has raised concerns over uncertainty in property ownership, warning that the issue could hinder investment and development in the real estate sector. The caution comes amid controversy surrounding the Expropriation Act, enacted in December 2024, which allows the government to expropriate property for nil compensation if deemed in the public interest.
